4.1 Demographic data of the fish farmers                                   

The
demographic features included age of farmers, sex of respondent, marital
status, educational level of farmer, primary occupation, farming experience,
ponds ownership, annual sales of fish and family size.

4.1.1 Age of fish farmers

Fish farmer?s ages
were varied from 20 to 60 years. The fish farmers were classified into eight
categories on the basis of their age: age between 20-25 years coded as 1; age
between 26-30 years coded as 2; age 
31-35 coded as 3; age between 36-40 years coded as 4 age between 41-45
years coded as 5;age between 46-50  yearscoded
as 6; age between 51-55 years coded as 7 and age between 56-60years coded as8.The
age category of fish farmers were dispersed in Table(4.1).
After the analysis of field surveyhas been showed that3.75 % of the
respondents belong to the age group of 20-25, which occupies the lowest
portion,10%respondents belong
to the age group of 26-30; 16.26%respondents belong to the age group of 31-35;
27.5%respondents belong to the age group of 36-40which occupies the highest
portion. 17.5%respondents belong to the age group of 41-45; 12.5%respondents
belong to the age group of 46-50; 7.5%respondents belong to the age group of
50-55 and 5%respondents belong to the age group of 56-60.

4.1.2
Sex of farmers

The fish farmers
classified into two sex categories male and female. Most of the farmers were
male. The survey showed that the number of respondent was 73 and female was 7in
respondent. About 91.25% of respondents were male where 8.75%were female in
sex. Sex category is showed in table 4.2.

4.1.4 Household size (person)

The survey showed that (Table 4.4)
family size of fish farmers in Rangpur majority of farmers have 2-4 family
members which belongs to about 61.25%.There are 5-7 family members with 23
farmers that belongs to 28.75% and 8-10 family members with 8 farmerswhich
belongs to 10%.

4.1.3 Marital
status

The fish farmers
classified into three categories0n the basis of maritalstatus. Maximum of the farmers were married. The survey presented
that the 7 were was 73 and female was 6 in respondent. About 91.25% of respondents
were male where 8.75%were female in sex. Sex category is showed in table 4.2.
